It seemed Marc Jacobs had done it all when it comes to fashion but he proved us wrong when he announced his beauty line in collaboration with Sephora Originals
Now after months of waiting for Marc Jacobs’ beauty collection to hit Sephora stores, photos of the upcoming line have been released via WWD. This collection is not for the color-shy, as Jacobs was noted saying nude shades are on the “lazy” side of things.
“We spent a lot of time developing materials and choosing the colors,” he said. “We work with the technicians at the mills to achieve a certain effect, so we did the same thing with Sephora. The color palette tells a story and that story is based on a spirit. I chose different types of characters, such as an ingénue.”
With all the work Jacobs spent perfecting each color, creating the quirky product names and designing the packaging, it is predicted that his hard work will make about $15 million for their first quarter. With Sephora being a part of the LVMH umbrella, this will be Jacobs’ third money making triumph for the huge conglomerate.
Marc Jacobs has created 122 statement making beauty items for us to play with. There are four parts to Jacobs’ beauty line: Smart Complexion (foundation, concealer, powder), Blacquer (eye liner, lash lifter, gel crayon), Hi-Per Color (eye shadow, lipstick, lipgloss, blush, nail polish) and Boy Tested Girl Approved (unisex items like lip balm and brow gel).
If you just can not wait any longer (join the club), come July 19 Sephora stores will be testing, or rather teasing five items from the collection to the public.
